let alone; about the band

With a blend of raw emotion and experimentation, Phoenix-based outfit let alone creates songs that fit into a self-appointed genre of Goldilocks Rock. Bringing a rock that is not too hard, not too soft, sustainable for human life.

With a lineup boasting Marcus as a lead singer who could be heard without a microphone and guitarist, Jeremy on lead guitar who still believes in guitar solos while harmonizing on backup vocals, Justin laying down refreshing yet nostalgic backing on drums, Alan doing anything but the basics with the low end on bass, and Sam adding a touch of dark ominous beauty with the violin, let alone is a dark rock sonic force to be reckoned with.

Drawing inspiration from, and making sure tore-creat the energy of live performances on their recordings, let alone sought to capture the essence of their sound in its purest form with a result of concert attendees heading to the parking lot being overheard stating "they sound JUST like their record". The result? A collection of songs that strike a delicate balance between heartfelt introspection and unadulterated rock. Recorded at the Band of Horses studio in Charleston, South Carolina and engineered by Nathan Hussey (of All Get Out), Marcus reflects, "We set out to make my broody sad-bastard songwriting into goldilocks rock songs—just the right amount of intensity and vulnerability."

At the core of "Same Science" lies the single "Sure," a timeless cautionary tale that delves into the rollercoaster journey of a songwriter's mind. It's a poignant reflection on the relentless pursuit of creativity and the ups of creating something singular and special and epic, and the next moment after completing it, thinking you'll never write a single good thing again.

But the making of "Same Science" wasn't without its trials in the creation phase. let alone ran on pure motivation, Adderall, energy drinks and Song #2 by Blur on repeat to push through losing a band van on the road, to recording certain pieces of the record in unconventional settings like an Airbnb turned makeshift studio. Yet, amidst the chaos, they found moments of absolute geekyness and lore at Band of Horses Studio, tracking drums with a piece of music history from Death Cab for Cutie's drum set from Transatlantiscism, and infusing their sound with unexpected elements like Connor Oberst's Baritone Danelectro and the iconic 45" concert bass drum littered with cat stickers and adoringly referred to s "Kitty Drum."

With each track on "Same Science," let alone invites listeners into a world where doubt and determination collide, where vulnerability is celebrated, and where the pursuit of musical perfection is an ever-evolving journey on display for the listener to take in as part of the experience. As they continue to carve out their place in the rock landscape, let alone remains steadfast in their commitment to authenticity, leaving audiences feeling instantly acquaintaned with the group once they've completed their electrifying set complete with a self-created, fully syncopated light show.
