about the band
With a blend of raw emotion and experimentation, Phoenix-based outfit Let Alone creates songs that define their unique genre: “Goldilocks rock.” Their sound is not too hard, not too soft, but just right for sustainable listening.
Frontman Marcus Rushmore commands attention with a voice that could fill a room without a mic. Jeremy Silva, the lead guitarist, still believes in the power of guitar solos and adds harmonious backup vocals. Justin Liddy’s drumming is both refreshing and nostalgic, Alan Fulrohdt’s bass lines go beyond the basics, and Sam Camacho’s violin adds a touch of dark, ominous beauty. Together, Let Alone is a formidable force in the dark rock scene.
Their mission is to recreate the energy of their live performances in their recordings. The goal is to have concert-goers say, "They sound JUST like their record." The result? A collection of songs that balance heartfelt introspection with unadulterated rock.
Recorded at the Band of Horses studio in Charleston, South Carolina, and engineered by Nathan Hussey of All Get Out, Marcus reflects, "We set out to turn my broody, sad-bastard songwriting into Goldilocks rock songs—just the right amount of intensity and vulnerability."
At the core of their album Same Science is the single "Sure," a timeless cautionary tale that explores the rollercoaster journey of a songwriter's mind. It’s a poignant reflection on the relentless pursuit of creativity, capturing the highs of creating something epic and the lows of doubting you’ll ever write a good song again.
The making of Same Science wasn’t without its challenges. Let Alone powered through with motivation, Adderall, energy drinks, and Blur’s “Song #2” on repeat. They lost a band van on the road and recorded parts of the album in unconventional settings like an Airbnb turned makeshift studio.
Yet, amidst the chaos, they geeked out at Band of Horses Studio, tracking drums with Death Cab for Cutie's drum set from "Transatlanticism," and incorporating elements like Connor Oberst's Baritone Danelectro and a 45" concert bass drum covered in cat stickers, affectionately called "Kitty Drum."
Each track on Same Science invites listeners into a world where doubt and determination collide, vulnerability is celebrated, and the pursuit of musical perfection is an ever-evolving journey.
As Let Alone continues to carve out their place in the rock landscape, they remain committed to authenticity, leaving audiences feeling an instant connection after their electrifying sets, complete with a fully synchronized light show.
